A BID does not like to give details about its spending. You can get general items BUT never specific details. I have been asking the Chinatown BID in NY for specific details on services only to be stone walled. I have spoken to and emailed numerous times for information:
Thank you – this is boiler plate information – every BID has the same line items. I want the details please.i.e.Who is paid for sanitation and the breakdown, What marketing – breakdown, Office expenses – ratio of expenses to income – itemized operating expenses
WHY? The answer is simple. A BID need to survive. It does so by blowing the proverbial smoke at you – look here not there. You will hear things like “our BID removed tons of trash”, “Our BID advertises” etc.. Sounds good BURT we already pay for trash removal – NY Strongest correct? Advertising? Where, How, who’s tracking effectiveness?
If a BID gives up this information readily, it becomes clear they are ineffective, provide useless duplicate services and ALWAYS need more of our money!
